New Year, New You in 2021

This past year was a challenging year for everyone learning to navigate amongst COVID-19. Already, 2021 is looking much more promising. Even though this past year brought many challenges, many have grown in this time of uncertainty. We now know the need for human connection and how important quality time with family and friends is. Coming out of 2020 many people are thinking about new beginnings, rethinking their career and realizing how valuable our time is. This past year has made people stop and re-evaluate many aspects of their life, including their work-life balance. We all want to come out of 2020 stronger, healthier and doing what makes us happy. Many people have got a glimpse of working from home and want to maintain that lifestyle.

As we start the New Year some people are making New Year's resolutions while others are opting against traditional resolutions. Unfortunately, many people make too many resolutions and implement too many changes at once or set unrealistic goals and tend to fall short of reaching their goals. Others have tried New Year’s resolutions in the past and have failed so they don’t bother with it anymore. New Years’ is a great time to reflect on the past year and take stock of what we have accomplished, the challenges we had and how we overcame them and start thinking about where we want to go in the future and what our dreams are for next year ahead.

A year is a good amount of time to accomplish many of your goals. To reach these goals, you need realistic timelines and a plan not to take on everything at once. For instance, in the first 2-3 months of the New Year, you could implement a couple of changes to reach your first set of goals. Once you have formed new habits and it becomes the status quo you can start to pick a few more goals to work on. Reaching our goals and forming new habits takes persistence, hard work and dedication. Your goals will eventually become the new normal and they will become easier to maintain. If you are concerned about following your plan or reaching your goals, look towards a Life Coach. An accountability partner or a Life Coach or Accountability Coach will help you gain clarity on what you want and help you follow through with your intentions.

What do you want in 2021?

Start planning your 2021 goals with a few starting point questions:

How can you improve your quality of life?
How do you want to live?
Who do you want to be remembered as?
How can you make a positive impact?

These questions will help you re-assess how you spend your time and figure out what your soul is urging you to do. These questions help determine what lights our fire. Living a passionate life is not only for the rich and famous, you can have that too. It all starts with a dream which leads to a plan and is followed up by massive action. It is never too late, we are not too old, too tired, too busy, have too many kids or responsibilities. These are all excuses that can be overcome. Of course, we need a plan in place to safely maneuver our careers or start a new business to ensure we can pay the bills. But the earlier we make that plan, and start planning for our career transition or getting our dream business off the ground the sooner we can turn that dream into a reality. Plant a seed, nurture it and watch it grow.

I wish you all the best for this coming year, and hope by this time next year, when you are reflecting on 2021 you can honestly say it was a great year and be proud of your many accomplishments and feel your values are aligned with your career or business and you are realizing your dreams.
