Surround Yourself With Entrepreneurs

Who we surround ourselves with is important and greatly influences our life, helping to form our reality. In the words of Jim Rohn, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” In life, we get to choose who we invest our time in getting to know and invite into our inner circle. We want to be surrounded by people who inspire us, who we have a deep respect for and have lots in common with or can talk to for hours. Your “Top 5” could be people that you are close friends with or could be people who you admire and learn from by listening to their podcasts, reading their books and the like. Having some entrepreneurs in your Top 5 or circle of influence will provide you with some great company and insights.

For me, 4 of the top 5 people I spend the most time with are Entrepreneurial. Also, looking at my immediate family members and in-laws, 7 are entrepreneurs or have done something entrepreneurial like write a book. I love being surrounded by the entrepreneurial spirit and have people to talk to as we encourage and support each other. I have a book club with my sisters, who are both entrepreneurial, where we meet twice a month, once to talk about our businesses and life goals and to do some moon rituals, and once to discuss a self-development book we read. Having these meetings with my sisters, who are two of my closest friends, helps me feel connected and energized in my business and life. My partner is also an entrepreneur, and sharing what is going on in our respective businesses is a major topic of conversation and interest.

Some benefits of being surrounded by entrepreneurs is that you can challenge each other to be better, inspire one another, have a common understanding of the playing arena and their frame of reference, share your dreams, and get guidance, encouragement and support. Entrepreneurs also tend to be fun people to be around; they are brave and know what risks to take, they have a clear vision of where they're going, they won’t stop until they get there and then… they will keep on going.

Having a mix of influences and people in your life is always a good idea, and every person you meet is both the teacher and the student. However, you will likely find a sense of belonging and inspiration amongst other entrepreneurs, so go ahead and get clear on what type of friends or influences you want to attract to your life and start vibing.
