If you're interested in spirituality, personal development, and increasing your awareness, these 4 books are for you. I’ve read a lot of books over the years. Some have really stood out and had a lasting impact on my life. I have narrowed it down to my top 4 books that raised my consciousness and got me to think about life a little differently. Some books on this list are very popular and you may have heard of them. Others are a little more obscure. Here are my top 4:
Flow - The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
This book is research-based and explores the positive aspects of human experience including creativity, joy, and the process of total involvement which is what the author calls flow. I have experienced flow in my life and this book helped me understand my optimal experiences, and how to welcome more flow experiences into my life. Being in flow feels amazing and we can all use more of it in our lives.
As One Is by J. Krishnamurti
J. Krishnamurti was a philosopher who raised essential questions about living. This book helped me examine my assumptions and ask myself questions about my life perspective. It is an intriguing book that really gets you thinking. If you enjoy philosophy and asking yourself hard questions, you will love this book
.The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
This is a toltec wisdom book that goes into the four agreements to make with yourself. The four agreements are to be impeccable with your word, not take anything personally, not make assumptions and always do your best. This book really helped me understand my domestication and the belief system I had in place. It encouraged me to do the work to analyze my belief system, figure out what beliefs were really my own, and what were the beliefs I took on from others. It helped me shatter limiting beliefs and gave me a fresh perspective on how to just be as I walk through the world.
Uncovering The Life Of Your Dreams by Bruce Schneider
This book explores personal experiences of awakening. It is a story about a character, Scott Billings, who finds himself just going through the motions of life and awakens to a new reality. The story is engaging and profound in meaning. Whether you are already going through an awakening process yourself or have ever wondered if there is more to life, this book is for you.
These are 4 books that I found meaningful and the most memorable over the past 15 years of my reading adventures. Sometimes, it's the timing that a book comes into our life. When we find a book that meets us where we are at, it pushes us to the next level or helps us explore a certain curiosity that we need to address. I hope these books enrich your life as they have enriched mine.
