Signs Your Work-Life Balance Is Not Balanced

Everyone talks about having work-life balance and it is somewhat a misleading term. Having a complete balance between work and life is something that eludes most of us. Very rarely will you feel that you balance work and life evenly. This is the case because sometimes we need more of a work focus and sometimes we are called to focus on other areas of our life.

The idea here is not to strive for balance between work and life, but to find a mix that serves your needs at the time and leaves you feeling engaged and energized by both your work and life outside of work.

Here are the signs that the current mix of time and energy you put into work and other areas of life are out of whack and that you need to make some changes before your burn out or end up with situational depression:

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
  • You work 24/7 with no end in sight and you are starting to feel disconnected from your family and friends

  • Your working too hard or too long, and at the end of the day you feel too exhausted to tend to your household duties or engage with your family

  • You have so much work to do but are finding that you are becoming disengaged with your work. Your stress and anxiety is increasing while your productivity is decreasing leading to more stress and anxiety.

  • You think about work constantly even when you’re not working. Sometimes you even do work in your dreams while you’re sleeping

  • You are spending a lot of time tending to or worrying about other family members and friends and are not able to focus at work

  • You are not working enough to pay the bills and are going into debt every month

  • You are partying too much or having a party of one, feel hungover the next day, and not able to feel productive during your day

  • Your relationships are in trouble and you are not taking the time or energy to address it

  • You’re not present in your everyday life and feel yourself just going through the motions without much thought

  • You're not sleeping well because you are overly concerned about work or other areas of your life

  • You're not exercising or engaging in your wellness plan because you’re too tired or unmotivated from everything else going on

  • You don’t feel good at the of the day and proud of everything you accomplished
